More than $329,000 in scholarships awarded to 2017 Forest City Graduates!
There has never been a more critical time to support our youth. We must ensure that important education initiatives and funding are maintained for generations to come. Independent of the Forest City Community School District, the Forest City Education Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization that seeks to attract private resources to support our mission of providing scholarships and education opportunities to Forest City students.

- We Promote Leadership
- We Celebrate
- We Connect People and Promote Community
Through scholarships, the Foundation provides financial support to graduating Forest City High School seniors. In the spring, seniors apply for scholarships and recipients are subsequently selected. The week before graduation, an awards night is held. As scholarships are awarded, these young men and women are recognized, as well as the individuals and organizations that support them.
One of the greatest joys is seeing a student shake hands with the donor that is investing in their future.
There are various scholarships awarded.
Foundation scholarships are offered to every Forest City graduate. The recipient must complete one semester of post secondary education as a full-time student with at least a 2.0 grade point average. Students receive $1,500 if they attend Waldorf College, $1,250 if they attend North Iowa Area Community College or $1,000 for any other post-secondary school.
Academic scholarships range from $500-$5,000. Award criteria is based on academics and extra-curricular activities. Students qualify by working three Foundation events and by submitting an application. The highest academic scholarships, called Commitment to Excellence are $2,500-$5,000 scholarships and are awarded to the top students in each class. Currently, the student receives this funding for the first year of college, however a goal of the Foundation is to be able to offer scholarships for additional years of study.
Thanks to generous donors and supporters, there are also several named scholarships awarded each year. The Foundations manages the administration of the scholarships and the real reward is seeing the connection between the student and donor who supports them.
